Sarana Haeata

Sarana Haeata is a self-taught Maori–Australian artist based in Margaret River, Western Australia. Her intuitive painting practice explores themes of movement, surrender, and the emotional landscapes of the female experience. Deeply influenced by her role as a mother to four daughters, her work reflects the shifting rhythms of motherhood and the quiet resilience found within it. Working with layered abstraction and sketch-like markings over figurative forms, Haeata’s paintings evoke a sense of transience and emotional depth, capturing moments suspended in motion.

She has held several solo exhibitions in Australia, including Saint Cloche in Sydney and has exhibited internationally with Tappan Collective in Los Angeles. Her work has been commissioned and collected internationally, including projects with the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in collaboration with The Boston Globe. Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide, and her work has been featured in Vogue Living.
