“Still life has created a new awareness and appreciation of my everyday surroundings, in particular flowers. I am captivated by their colour, intricate beauty and the strong connection they hold to both family and space. At this time of year hand picked posies are an abundance throughout my home. They become small offerings that invite playful imagination into colour, form and texture.
By combining a variety of flowers I apply the concept of constructing my own hybrid. Whilst my palette sits at the core of development, these works reference ancient Chinese pottery and creatures found throughout mythology and folklore tales. Each painting is an exploration of colour and aims to convey a sense of home.”
