“In this group of recent paintings I use abstract depictions of the figure and natural forms, exploring the materiality of paint, colour and texture. In fact I am in love with paint and colour and all the possibilities that painting provides for me to express my ideas.
Approaching my work with an open mind, sensitive to the moment and adapting to it as I paint; It is making discoveries through the process that excites me, drives me and brings so much joy.
Allowing the painting to emerge through my process, which at times hinges on a particular predetermined methodology and at other times abandons it;
I want my paintings to have a liveliness about them and a sense that something is happening within its parameters that is inherent to it.
A keen observer of life and my surroundings since early childhood, and someone who regularly experiences lucid dreaming, these paintings sit somewhere between the real, the imagined and the abstract”.
