Nick Coulson (b. 1973, Melbourne) is a Brisbane based artist whose paintings explore everyday objects – these tend to be small, mostly domestic and often overlooked. Painting from both observation and photos.
“I paint everyday objects, distilling and simplifying content that is familiar to me. I enjoy exploring the formalist qualities that each subject presents.”
Nick has been a finalist in the Lthbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022), Hawkesbury Art Prize (2021), Stanthorpe Art Prize (2021), Byron Arts Magazine Prize (2018, 2020) and the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award (2018 and 2019).
Nick has been part of group exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and his work is held in private collections in Australia, North America and the United Kingdom.
