Melanie’s paintings of creeks, coastlines, and rainforests capture familiar scenes from the artist’s life. Her practice continues on in the grand narrative of Australian landscape painting where she uses broad brushstrokes, rich colours and contrasting light to reflect Australia’s vibrancy presenting an energetic picture of this immense land.
Based in Bellingen on the NSW Mid North Coast, this will be Melanie’s 7 th solo exhibition with Michael Reid galleries since 2021. She has completed a Bachelor Of Fine Arts from The National Art School and a Master Of Arts at UNSW. Melanie has been a finalist in the Hawkesbury Art Prize in 2019, a 2020 finalist in the King’s School Art Prize and in 2021 a finalist in the National Emerging Art Prize and the 9×5 Landscape Painting Prize.
