Jim Moody

Jim Moody is a Painter based in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Originally qualified with a B.A in Graphic Design he had long commercial career moving from Art Direction in Advertising to Product and Furniture Design in the early 2000’s. He later spent some time studying Sculpture at Melbourne’s VCA before moving to Painting.

He likes to work mostly from direct observation, painting in Oils and Gouache and he works in a loose, painterly form of realism bordering on the abstract more concerned with depicting a form of emotional reality rather than a photographically real one.

His work is held in private collections here and overseas and more recently he was a finalist in the 2019 Rick Amor Self Portrait prize.
