Miranda Joy Summers

Miranda Summers is a multidisciplinary artist born in Melbourne and raised in Sussex, England, with a background in both visual art and theatre production. She began her career as a theatre prop maker, working across London’s West End, opera houses, and television productions. After relocating to Sydney, she continued her work in theatre with Opera Australia, most recently assisting the direction of Carmen for OA in 2025.

Alongside her theatre career, Miranda is a dedicated oil painter whose work is inspired by the Australian landscape. Her paintings explore a quiet equilibrium. Rock anchors the landscape, while trees lean, arc and reach toward the light, suspended and reflected by water. What interests her is the balance held within these relationships: weight and lightness, grounding and reach, stillness and flow. The trees seem to achieve something impossible, yet they do so effortlessly, their form settles into a natural harmony.
