Sigrid Patterson

Based in the Byron hinterland, Sigrid Patterson is surrounded by her ever growing native garden. Her inspiration, and storytelling is through flowers. The art of floriography. Many of her pieces have interwoven stories on the environment, inclusive and diverse communities, equity and caring for the land, skies, seas and air. Others are just for the beauty that she see in the subjects.

There are often reflections to encourage looking inwards, and many have shadows, exploring the hidden stories. All her paintings are about hope, resilience and a bright future. The attributes that she sees in our quirky, fragile yet elegant and robust native plants.

Patterson has been a finalist in several art prizes – Doyles Art Awards, Lethbridge Gallery 2000, and won the Still Life category in the 2020 Art Lovers Australia Awards and highly Commended in the Light Space Time International Botanical Awards 2021, 2022 and 2023.
